The Carolina Parakeet has been intriguing scientists and bird enthusiasts alike for nearly 100 years. They were once endemic to an expensive range sweeping from New York and the Great Lakes to Colorado, Texas, the Golf of Mexico, and Florida. On February 21st, 1918, the last captive specimen passed away. The bird’s rapid disappearance has never been fully understood.
